12/29/2023 0 Comments Are solar batteries worth itIf these PowerBanks prove to be successful this could open up a whole new affordable battery solution for customers, while providing the grid with any support it may require in managing excess energy. At midnight, any excess power still in the battery is returned to the grid, with the householder paid the standard feed-in tariff. As their solar panels generate solar power during the day, up to 6kwh or 8kwh of excess power is automatically transferred to the battery.įrom 3pm to midnight households can draw energy back from the battery to power up their homes, covering the energy-use peak hours between 3pm and 9pm. How does the PowerBank work?Ĭustomers in the trial have been allocated virtual storage in the battery. To date they have installed three community –scale batteries utlising Tesla technology in Meadow Springs, Falcon and Ellenbrook. In addition to this Western Power and Synergy have also teamed up and launched a community shared battery trial called PowerBank. This potential issues along with the demand coming from customers is expected to drive more affordable battery systems to the market over the next few years. The use of batteries however could provide a simple solution to managing this energy & provide support to the grid. This increase in excess energy has caused some concerns over the grid's stability. This means that more and more energy is being feedback into the grid. However things could be set to change……… as more affordable solar solutions have been hitting the WA market, many West Aussies have been opting to purchase larger solar systems than their household requires. This is due to the payback period being 15 years or more, with most battery systems having an expected lifespan on 10 years! This is where battery storage comes in!įor the average Australian to add a solar battery system to their home doesn’t currently make economic sense. At the time of writing this article Synergy were buying excess energy placed back to the grid at 7.8 cents per kWh (including GST).įor larger households that are using more energy, this means while their energy bills are reduced through the REBS, they would be much better off if the excess energy produced during the day could be stored ready for use in the evening. REBS gives customers an opportunity to earn money simply by exporting excess solar back into the grid. What is the Renewable Energy Buyback Scheme (REBS)? However once the evening comes for many of us we will be purchasing energy back from the grid.įor some homeowners they will find that the entire or majority of the cost of the power used in the evenings is covered by the money they have earnt through the Renewable Energy Buyback Scheme (REBS). Even those not home during the day have adopted the use of system timers on key appliances around the home, ensuring these run during the day when solar power is being generated. With the cost of energy currently at 28.8 cents per kWh (including GST), many Western Australian’s are attempting to use as much power as possible generated by their solar systems throughout the day. Solar has provided us with some amazing environmental and financial benefits, though it has left us wanting more! Are solar batteries worth it? Solar BatteriesĪcross WA we have truly embraced the world of solar with almost 30% of homes across Perth and the South West with a roof top solar system. 12/29/2023 0 Comments Lama rod owens middleburyNot only do I have to choose freedom, I have to understand that I deserve to be free. Some of us don’t really believe that we deserve to be free from suffering. When all of this is streamed together, it begins to awaken care, a deep, profound care, the kind of care that says, “I’m going to do everything that I can to get free because I care that much for myself and for others.” An important point here too is that I have to care for myself enough to want to get free to begin with. And of course, everything is based in emptiness, so we have the capacity for all of this to happen because of the profound potential of emptiness and space. I’m overwhelmed by that, and there’s deep gratitude in that joy as well. I feel deep joy for having the capacity to choose to benefit beings through my practice. I also experienced compassion, tuning into the suffering of both ourselves and the world and actually committing to freeing ourselves and others from suffering. When I began to think about this in terms of the New Saint, I began asking myself, What is my actual felt experience of bodhicitta? The first thing I felt was love, this deep acceptance, holding space for everything and wishing for everyone and everything to be free. When I am attempting to get free, that labor is also helping others to get free. It’s this view of deep connectedness and deep empathy, where we’re doing the work of liberation not just for ourselves but for all beings. We traditionally define bodhicitta as the awakened heart-mind, but I would say that it’s the magic of the bodhisattva. Can you walk us through what you mean by awakened care? Awakened care is my experience of bodhicitta. You refer to the New Saint’s magic, which depends on two practices: the expression of awakened care and the development of our capacity to disrupt habitual reactivity. Read an excerpt from their conversation, then listen to the full episode. Shaheen sat down with Owens on a recent episode of Tricycle Talks to discuss why he believes that the apocalypse is an opportunity for awakening, the power of connecting with our ancestors and unseen beings, why the New Saint is not necessarily a good person, and how fierceness can be a form of awakened care. “It’s about the contemporary experience of people in a world that seems to be on the edge of catastrophe.” “The New Saint is a rethinking of what it means to be a bodhisattva right now, with a particular focus on relative justice and its relationship to ultimate liberation,” he told Tricycle’s editor-in-chief, James Shaheen. In his new book, The New Saints: From Broken Hearts to Spiritual Warriors, Owens draws from the traditions of Tibetan Buddhism and Black liberation movements to put forth the notion of the New Saint. Recently, he’s been grappling with the question of what freedom looks like in our current political context and how spiritual practice can support us through our current crises. As an author, activist, and authorized lama in the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism, he has worked at the intersection of social change, identity, and spiritual practice, exploring how activist work and spiritual practice can support each other. Lama Rod Owens has long been fascinated by the relationship between social liberation and ultimate freedom. 12/29/2023 0 Comments Obama calls joe biden vice presidentIn an attempt to better understand what is actually happening with President Biden and Donald Trump and the early 2024 presidential polls, what Biden and the Democrats can potentially do to improve his political fortunes, and what may happen next, I recently spoke with Mike Kulisheck, the senior vice president of the Benenson Strategy Group, a consulting and marketing firm that worked as Barack Obama's pollsters during his 2012 re-election campaign. President Biden and the Democrats are rapidly running out of time to go on the offense and shift the narrative. The 2024 election is less than a year away. Ultimately, that may prove to be a politically fatal miscalculation. Moreover, the Biden administration and the Democratic Party’s spokespeople have been reluctant to target corporate greed as a winning political issue. The American people do not care about the technical details of how and why (price gouging and corporate profiteering) all that matters is that they are hurting. If the presidency is the ultimate bully pulpit, President Biden has been too afraid to use it -at the detriment of us all.įor example, President Biden’s economy is historically strong, but the American people still feel that inflation, and in particular food and gas prices, are extremely high. If the public opinion polls and other data are to be believed, President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign – and by implication the future of American democracy – is in big trouble. 12/29/2023 0 Comments Ben carson gifted hands book pdfAnd this truth has repeatedly appeared in my life! My parents have always told me that if you really want something and work at it, you will see things happen your way. You will be surprised at what happened after that! I will leave you to find it out for yourself.Īnyways, this is very similar to my story. When Ben Carson heard the words of his mother, he turned to God and prayed, wondering how he would come up against the questions that awaited his chemistry test the following day. "Bennie, you can do it! Why, son, you can do anything you want, and you can do it better than anybody else. And in the midst of the recognition of one's lower intelligence amongst those around (which is an error in perception to begin with), he was very close to giving up when his mother's voice rang in his head, that said, The similar thing had been experienced by Ben Carson when he got into Yale. I recall that when I had joined the MBBS college in Kolkata which wasn't the one I would have liked to be in (something pretty irrelevant in shaping a person as a good doctor, but unknown to me back then), I felt enormously felled in esteem in the initial months, watching myself circled by students around who had cracked bigger entrance exams many of which I had failed. So often she copied other people's books to create her own. She came from very humble beginnings and economy, and never had books of her own to study. Come what may, and she will still make her dream come true. She is just the same, she won't stop at anything to get what she wants. Many lessons I learnt from the book, one of them is- “I am going to get my life situation straightened out," said by the unbending stamina of a woman, Sonya, Carson's mother herself, when her life spirals downwards many times, in between her jobs in people's homes, a divorce, and the consistent pile of motivation she had ready for her sons just so they never had to take any notice whatsoever of her hidden struggle and depression. The book helped me trust that in moments of ridicule and shame that the world is wont to grant (I faced many at workplaces), you have the power of God that is willing you forth with massive amounts of endurance and peace that is beyond anybody's reach. Just recently she had been telling me to climb higher and higher in my path, motivating me by stating, "If you are determined, nothing can stop you, no bad criticism, nothing." The lessons I am learning from the book match closely with those my mother teaches me so often. My mother has always pushed me to take challenges with a pinch of salt and wade through them with a smile like she has always done. I see Sonya as a reminder of my own mother. This is the story of a ghetto boy hailing from the streets of Detroit, who climbs monumental rungs of obstacles and challenges (so much 'nigger' statements and ridicule included) to finally become a renowned paediatric neurosurgeon in the John Hopkins Medical Institution, Baltimore, Maryland. Reading about this book overwhelmed me with this truth I have always recognised in fragments but never quite as deeply as I am doing now. When I recollect my childhood and years in medicine, I now recognise in explicit cognition, just how much my parents have sacrificed to get me where it is I am. I personally think this is a book every healthcare individual must read! Period! But others will derive a lot from the book too! It has real moral lessons, values, and inspiration to be taken from it, and I would recomend that anybody who has ANY time at all, should read it. He's quite inspirational because of his less than noble background. The voice is powerful and has a sincere tone to it throughout.īen Carson, being a pediatric neurosurgeon, is perhaps the best in the world, having discovered several medical techniques that are used even today, and maybe his greatest contribution, he perfected the hemispherectomy. If its being rated for writing style, it gets 5 stars. If it's being rated by emotional investment, it gets 5 stars. I, at least, felt his struggles, victories, and failures quite strongly. The whole story of his life is inspiring, and the book causes you to become very emotionaly attached to Ben Carson as a character. 12/28/2023 0 Comments Intacept pushoverIntacept 50mg Injection blocks the motion of sure chemical messengers which might be liable for inflammation, swelling and redness related to sure joint diseases. Sharp (and positive) contrast with UB 21 and its highly directed rigid approach, more lumbering ride and additional almost 1 oz additional weight Sam.Relatively secure stretch knit upper with decent toe box hold, a change for such uppers Sam.Agile, flexible thin but well cushioned forefoot Sam.Very shock absorbing vibration free heel feel Sam.Distinct sensation of forward motion, as advertised Sam.No sensation of any of the usual foam density or bouncy hard to control Boost in the mix, especially at the heel.Innovative and effective new approach to midsole technology Sam.Really run ready and for what and whom? We tested to find out! 4D now today a new and compelling midsole technology for actual running or are we still at the concept car technology platform demo stage? For sure 2020 and now 2021 have ushered in an era of run shoe midsole innovation with primarily super light energetic foams and here we have a completely different approach. Jeff and I received samples prior to receiving any of the information above so we were able to test without any of the tech data and marketing and then continued testing after receiving it. PRIMEKNIT+ UPPER: Using historical mapping data, the PRIMEKNIT+ upper has been tailored to work perfectly in tune with the adidas 4DFWD midsole, supporting the runner every move forward with a sock-like fit, while letting the foot breathe freely MIDSOLE INNOVATION: A unique bowtie-shaped FWD CELL redirects energy from each step's impact to create horizontal forward motion LATTICE CONSTRUCT: Made of 39% bio-based 3D material, offering 23% more cushioning and generating over three times as much forward motion when compared to previous generations of 4D midsole under vertical loading in mechanical testing conditions The key features called out by adidas are: To create this midsole, adidas and partner Carbon combine athlete data and Carbon’s Digital Light Synthesis TM technology to produce the precision tuned 3D printed midsoles with the ability to fine tune midsoles to specific patterns of movement. Selected from one of five million possible lattice structures and made of 39% bio-based material, the bowtie-shaped FWD CELL according to adidas has been specifically coded to compress forward upon vertical impact to redirect vertical load energy to horizontal energy in the stride while reducing peak breaking force by an average of 15% to deliver running economy comparable to Ultraboost. In the 4DFWD the FWD CELL lattice is said to be designed to deliver up to 3 times more forward motion in mechanical lab testing compared to previous generations of the technology. Adidas has been working away on 3D printed midsoles for several years now. |
